Notes for Photographers and
Professional Film Makers

A licence is required to film or take photographs on the River Cam along the Backs. Day permits for commercial photography/filming are available from Scudamore’s Punting Company Limited, Granta Place, Cambridge (telephone 01223 359750). Each day permit costs £100 for commercial organisations/individuals and £50 for charities/students.

Should your activities require any interruption to normal navigation (i.e. periods when members of the public need to be excluded from scenes), you must apply to the office at Baits Bite Lock for formal permission at least 14 days in advance of your intended date(s). There are fees involved in the granting of a licence for this type of photography/filming. Any obstruction to navigation (e.g. rig suspended over the river) carries an additional fee. The applicant must also cover the costs of advertising the Public Notice that must be issued on such occasions.

Please contact the office at Baits Bite (telephone 01223 863785) for further advice.
