Fishing rights along the west bank between the Penny Ferry public house (formerly the Pike & Eel) at Chesterton and Clayhithe Bridge are leased annually to the Cambridge Fish Preservation and Angling Society (CFPAS). For further information on the Society visit their website at:

There is a Code of Conduct for Anglers and Rowers using the River Cam. This was agreed between the Cambridge University Combined Boat Clubs (CUCBC), Cambridgeshire Rowing Association (CRA) and CFPAS in 2003.

All people fishing require a Rod Licence from the Environment Agency and this can be purchased online at www.environment-agency.gov.uk
In addition, a Day Ticket or Permit is required and it is possible to obtain these from the local CFPAS Bailiff, Jim Russell, telephone 07969 720147.
The Coarse Fish Close Season applies to the River Cam from 15 March to 15 June inclusive each year.
