The Halingway has been significantly upgraded to cycle path status. It is a key feature of the left bank of the river and is maintained by Cambridgeshire County Council.

The above picture shows the 48hr moorings looking upstream from Clayhithe Bridge. The Halingway can be seen clearly running alongside the river. It stretches between the Penny Ferry Public House at Chesterton to Calyhithe Bridge, Horningsea (approximately 8km). Only authorised vehicles are allowed on The Halingway (see byelaws).
The navigation authority for the River Cam since 1702.
